If you ran into Sam on the street or at a party you wouldn’t suspect that the music he created was so somber. It’s true, I’ve met the singer and song writer of The Samuel Edgar Band and he is one of the most cheerful and charismatic people I’ve crossed paths with. Much of his music however holds a fatalistic tone, as though the world around him is crumbling and he is stuck by the beauty of its defeat. There is a sweetness and sharpness in the sound of his guitar playing and a longing in his voice. It fits well with the fall time in Denver as summer comes to a close and we long for greener moments but can’t help sigh at the beauty.
